Mitchell de Koning was born on May 31, 1996, in Curaçao, which is a Dutch Caribbean island belonging to the group of the so-called “a-b-c islands.” Curaçao sits right in the middle, with the island of Aruba to the west and the island of Bonaire to the east.
Although Mitchell discovered his passion for music during his final year of Elementary school, it wasn’t until the age of 15 that Mitchell got involved with composing and recording music. He had been playing guitar for about 4 years, and piano for a few months when he realized that he could create a small and primitive studio at home, where he would record music with friends. This is also when Mitchell discovered the art of mixing. Soon, Mitchell had his first few clients.
Being in charge of the sound setup in high school, Mitchell was able to network, collaborate, and mix for other aspiring artists and musicians who shared the passion for music. After graduating high school at the age of 17, Mitchell studied and worked on music full-time for a little over a year. It was then that he decided to attend Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida to hone his audio skills. With the knowledge that he had acquired prior to attending Full Sail University, Mitchell was fortunate enough to help other students throughout their studies. During his free time, Mitchell would either work on projects or meet with his instructors at Full Sail University to learn more about recording, editing, and mixing. On May 6, 2016, Mitchell graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Recording Arts with both Perfect Attendance and a Course Director Award in Session Recording.
Understanding the importance of effective communication and building lasting relationships with clients, Mitchell continued his studies in 2016 to pursue his Master’s Degree in Entertainment Business. On June 30, 2017, Mitchell graduated as the Salutatorian of his class with multiple awards, including the Advanced Achievement Award, Perfect Attendance Award, and a Course Director Award in Digital Marketing.
After graduating with his Master’s Degree, Mitchell moved to Miami, Florida to work at The Hit Factory Criteria as a General Assistant.
